Wheelchair Bound Man ID'd After Fatal Central PA Toy Store Strike: Coroner

The man struck dead by a vehicle outside a toy store has been identified, Dauphin County officials told Daily Voice on Monday, Oct. 7.

Eusebio Forestier, 68, of Harrisburg, was using a mobility scooter when he was struck by a vehicle, the officials told us citing the Dauphin County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning, Oct. 8.

The fatal crash happened in the 300 block of North Second Street in Harrisburg around 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, police detailed in the release.

The vehicle had been going north on the street when it left the roadway for an unknown reason striking multiple buildings and a pedestrian, according to the police. 

A man on the sidewalk has died from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle during the crash, the police explained.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the motor vehicle, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. 

The business that was struck was The Treasure Trove Toy Store, which had only opened this second location in Dec. 2023. It was freshly painted with a new sign, according to its Facebook page.

Despite serious damage to the store, the owners intend to reopen as soon as possible.

The Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
